Door repair, tested until it shuts with one hand.

A bedroom door that has to be shouldered shut, or a closet slider off its track. We reset the hinges or move the strike, in a two-hour window you pick.

Open 7am to 7pm, seven days. A quote is free, by phone or from a photo.

A door that sticks or misses its latch is usually still straight. A hinge has sagged or the frame has moved, often by less than an eighth of an inch.

Doors we fix most weeks

  • A door that only latches once you push your weight into it.
  • A latch that slides past the strike plate and won't catch.
  • A front-door deadbolt that sticks until you push or lift the door.
  • A closet slider off its track, or a bifold that won't fold flat.
  • A handle that turns without pulling the latch back.

Hinges and strikes first

When a door drops, it's usually the top hinge, whose screws reach only the thin jamb. A long screw driven through to the stud pulls the door back up. When the latch misses, the strike plate moves to meet it, with the old holes plugged so the new screws have wood to grip. A door gets planed only when the hinges and the strike can't bring it back, and only with your OK.

Closet doors

Most closet sliders hang from rollers in a top track, and a worn roller or a missing floor guide lets one jump it. A bifold turns on corner pivots, and a cracked pivot is the usual reason it won't fold. Hardware that is no longer made gets replaced as a set.

How a door visit goes

  1. Describe the door. Say which door it is and what it does, and text a photo of it if you can.
  2. You get a written price and a two-hour window. When our handyman leaves the job before yours, you get a text with the time he'll be at your door.
  3. We read the gap first. A gap that narrows toward one corner shows where the door dropped.
  4. The fix goes in. Then we swing the door until it closes with one hand.
  5. You try it yourself. Every door we worked on, before we pack up and leave the room as we found it.

What adds time to a door job

The visit covers the trip and the first hour of work, then time goes in half-hour steps. The written price comes before we start, and nothing bigger goes ahead without your OK.

  • What moved. A loose hinge is a short job. A bowed door or a shifted frame takes longer.
  • New hardware. A new deadbolt or closet track we supply is listed on the invoice.
  • How many doors. Every door on one visit runs on the same half-hour steps, so the trip is paid once.

What you get

  • Every door we worked on shutting with one hand.
  • The itemized invoice and a photo of the finished work come by text the same day.
  • Our work is covered for a year from the date on your invoice. If something we fixed or installed stops working in that year, call and we book a return window at no charge. Parts we supplied are covered by the company that made them.

Before we look at your doors

What does a door repair cost?

The visit, plus half-hour steps for any time past the first hour. How far the door or its frame has moved decides how many.

What about the garage door?

Garage doors and their openers aren't handyman work. If that's your door, you hear it on the call, before we book a window.

Tell us the job. We'll give you the window.

We call or text back within the hour to book your window, 7am to 7pm, every day.
